Restorative Yin Teacher

Hi there! My personal yoga journey began some 20+ years ago while searching for a way in to meditation. As I had danced throughout my life, I thought that yoga asana practice may be the answer…and it was!

After 16 years of performing on musical theatre stages in the West End, London, Germany and Switzerland, I finally hung up my dance shoes and delved deeper into my Yoga practice. I studied extensively overseas, completing my Power Yoga Teacher Training with Power Yoga founder Bryan Kest and my 500hr RYT Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Yin Yoga founders and mentors Paul & Suzee Grilley and Insight Yoga founder Sarah Powers.

After 23 years of living and working in Europe, I returned to Aotearoa with my family, where I completed a Restorative Yoga Teacher Training with Karla Brodie and Neal Ghoshal and became an iRest Yoga Nidra Level 1 teacher.

My classes focus on creating a nurturing space for my students to connect to their intuitive selves. I am interested in weaving mindfulness practices with the nourishing passive poses while respecting and honouring the unique anatomical, emotional and physical states of my students. I am passionate about the potency of yin and restorative yoga practices and believe they are a vital antidote to the fast-paced yang lives of our modern western society.

Together with my partner Markus Giess, we founded Yin Therapy, specialising in Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training courses, workshops, retreats in Europe and Australasia.

I am grateful to my family, friends, yoga teachers and students who have assisted me on my yoga journey, and above all, I am grateful to my son Kahanu for fast tracking my yoga practice off the mat and

into “real life”…every minute of every day!
